DIRECTIONS
Make your way to 91N in Vermont.
At mile marker 69, take exit 10A for 89S toward Concord, NH.
On 89S, you will immediately cross the Connecticut river and enter West Lebanon, New Hampshire. There is a grocery here - Hannafords - as well as gas, WalMart, Home Depot, fast food, etc. And also Dartmouth College.
After you make the turn from 91N to 89S, go 7.4 miles and take this exit.
At the bottom of the off ramp, take a right onto 4 East toward Enfield and Canaan.
After a total of 11.7 miles on 4, you will be in Caanan. Take a left at this sign onto 118.
There is a small grocery called Jake's soon after you make the turn onto 118 (the Irving gas sign is more prominent than the Jake's sign). Last chance for provisions and gas.
You'll also pass the turn for Mount Cardigan, a great hike with a spectacular view.
In 13.2 miles keep an eye out for North Groton Road. Take a right.
(If 118 dead ends at a stop sign, you missed North Groton Road. Turn around and back track 1.9 miles.)
In 100 yards or so, take a left on Bailey Hill Road. Almost there!
Our place is 197 Bailey Hill Road. 0.9 miles up the hill on the left. Our driveway is marked with a street sign, Pierce Lane.
DIVERSIONS
There are a couple small groceries fairly close by (Shawnees in Wentworth and Appleknockers in Warren). The closest town that is more than a wide spot in the road is Plymouth, NH (home of Plymouth State University, where Robert Frost taught back in the day). There are two groceries on Tenney Mountain Highway near Plymouth - Market Basket and Hannafords.
Sadly, our two favorite restaurants in Plymouth recently closed. Others that we recommend:
Last Chair (brew pub with quality pub grub)
Mountain Mermaid (coffeshop, juicebar, breakfast sandwiches)
In Plymouth proper, there's Biederman's (sandwich shop, get the Rueben) and Main Street Station (diner).
Touring downtown Plymouth on foot will be a pleasant 5-10 minutes. We like it, but not much to see here.
In terms of tourist spots nearby, Meredith is on the northern end of Lake Winnipesaukee. Lovely town with some notably restaurants. And lots of people this time of year. So. Many. People.
Our favorite Meredith restaurant is Lakehouse Grill.
Meredith is to the south, about a 50 minute drive.
The Flume Gorge (about 35 minutes away via the highway) is highly recommended. Get tickets on-line before you head out.

The Flume Gorge is near Lincoln, NH (home of Loon ski resort). Many restaurants in Lincoln.
The fastest route to Lincoln/Flume Gorge is through Plymouth. The drive to Lincoln over Mount Moosilauke is worth the extra time. Take 118 to Warren and then stay on 118 (bear right) when 118 turns into 25 (if you bear left). Near the top of Mount Moosilauke, there's a scenic view pull off on the right. Definitely worth a stop.
